Lindsay's life has been marked by a tumultuous journey through addiction, depression, and the healthcare system. Her own experiences have ignited a deep passion for helping others struggling with mental illness and addiction to overcome their challenges. She understands the obstacles that patients face on their path to recovery.
For over five years now, Lindsay has been sober, a significant achievement that she is incredibly proud of. However, her journey has not been without its difficulties. Despite being a member of the AA Fellowship, she struggled to find support that accommodated her use of psychiatric medication. Determined to focus on her recovery, she made the difficult decision to forgo her medication. It was only after two years of sobriety that Lindsay realized that she needed additional support to manage her depression and suicidal thoughts. She began taking antidepressants, which have been crucial in helping her manage her mental health.
Before joining firsthand, Lindsay worked at a behavioral health hospital, where she still works today. Her firsthand experience of the challenges and discomfort of detox has inspired her to bring a different level of care and support to the process. Lindsay understands that every patient is unique, and she is passionate about meeting them where they are and providing them with personalized support to help them on their journey to recovery.
Lindsay's own journey to recovery has informed her approach to her work and strengthened her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. She understands the struggles that individuals in recovery face, including overcoming grief and the loss of loved ones. At firsthand, Lindsay has found a supportive and collaborative culture that allows her to offer the personalized guidance and support that her patients need to thrive. She is proud of the progress that her individuals make and is motivated to continue helping them live their best lives.
Outside of work, Lindsay is actively involved in sponsoring women in AA meetings and participating in service work. She also cherishes her furry companion, a fat cat named Snowman. Lindsay's advice to anyone struggling with mental or physical illness is to seek out supportive resources and networks to help them on their journey. She understands the importance of having a reliable support system to empower individuals to live fulfilling lives.
